How we handle information when you use Afritalk and our website.

Who we are

Afritalk provides live chat software, a shared inbox, and related services for businesses (“the Service”). This policy describes how we process personal data in connection with the Service and afritalk.app (the “Site”).

Information we collect

Depending on how you use Afritalk, we may process:

  • Account data — such as name, email, organization, and credentials you provide when you register or manage billing.
  • Service & chat data — messages, visitor metadata your widget captures (for example page URL or device hints), attachments you or visitors send through chat, and internal notes your team adds in the inbox.
  • Technical & usage data — IP address, browser type, approximate location, logs, and diagnostics needed to operate and secure the platform.
  • Support & communications — information you send when you contact us (for example via our contact form or email).

How we use information

We use data to provide and improve the Service, authenticate users, process subscriptions, send service-related notices, prevent abuse, comply with law, and respond to support requests. We do not sell your personal information.

Legal bases (where applicable)

Where GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on bases such as contract (delivering the Service you requested), legitimate interests (security, product improvement, balanced against your rights), consent (where we ask for it), and legal obligation.

Sharing

We may share data with subprocessors that help us host, email, bill, or analyze the product (for example cloud hosting or payment providers), under contracts that require appropriate safeguards. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.

Retention

We keep data only as long as needed for the purposes above, including legal, accounting, and dispute requirements. Chat and account retention may follow settings or plans available in your dashboard where applicable.

Security

We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect data. No method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure; we encourage strong passwords and careful handling of API keys and embed codes.

Your choices

You may access, correct, or delete certain account information through your dashboard or by contacting us. You may object to some processing or request portability where the law provides those rights. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in those messages.

International transfers

If we transfer data across borders, we use appropriate safeguards permitted by applicable law.

Children

The Service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and adjust the “Last updated” date.
